Rainier Brewery

RAINIER BREWERY

The seven-acre Rainier Brewery contains five major landmark structures that were constructed from 1906 to 1916. Prohibition ended the sites use as a brewery and after lying fallow it was used as a cold storage facility and as an industrial incubator until the present day. Our challenge was to re-imagine the site’s future, incorporate new uses, provide improved site circulation, integrate the site into the surrounding community, replace one structure that had been damaged beyond repair and plan for the sequential rehabilitation and re-use of the remaining historic buildings. Today the building successfully integrates multi-functional spaces from artist live-work lofts to small business headquarters.
