Tacoma Art Museum Study

An engaging, art-focused urban space that seamlessly connects the museum with the surrounding community. By incorporating simple design elements and bold color choices, the concept enhances the museum's architecture while offering clear identity and functional design. This project aims to elevate the patron's arrival experience by redirecting circulation from the parking area to the museum entrance through a linear garden path leading to a glass elevator. This transition guides visitors to the plaza level, where they are presented with a variety of choices, setting the stage for further exploration.

Additionally the space creates a destination that encourages visitors to stay and engage with the space year-round. The design includes a kinetic glass elevator, integrated lighting in public seating areas, and a variety of gathering spaces, offering patrons opportunities to enjoy art, take in views from a 20-foot elevated walk, or relax with a snack or beverage. The plaza is designed to host outdoor art exhibitions, providing a dynamic and inviting environment for both art lovers and the broader community.
